Scholarships Available

These following scholarships are funded through The Wytheville Community College Educational Foundation, Inc. and The Wytheville Community College Scholarship Foundation, Inc. Students must complete an application form online and complete the FAFSA to be eligible to receive any of these awards.  Unless otherwise specified in the description, students must have a minimum 2.0-grade point average to receive a scholarship award. 

*College Service Region: Bland County, Carroll County, City of Galax, Grayson County, Smyth County (Marion and eastward), and Wythe County.

Agriculture Scholarship Endowment

Available to students from farm families enrolled full time in the science curriculum with intent to transfer to an agriculture program; students enrolled in other programs will also be eligible. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

American Association of University Women, Wytheville Branch

Available to a WCC student from Wythe County who plans to transfer to a four-year college or university. 

The American Legion Post #9 Scholarship

Available to WCC students from the college's service region who have financial need and academic promise. Recipients must be either veteran, children of veterans, or grandchildren of veterans, who have been honorably discharged from the Armed Forces.

John Emory and Flora Baker Anderson Scholarship Endowment

Available to students from cities and counties of Bland, Bristol, Galax, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, or Wythe who ranked in upper one-third of high school graduating class. This scholarship covers tuition only. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Olin and Rowena Armentrout Scholarship Endowment

Available to deserving students attending WCC. Recipients must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal or state financial aid programs.

Dr. Thomas E. Ashworth Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to current or past WCC Developmental Studies students of promise. Preference is given to non-traditional, returning students who are registered in a transfer program. Must be residents of the college's service region.* (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Barnes Family Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the Wytheville Community College educational experience.  Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs. 

Dr. Edwin L. Barnes Scholarship Fund

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the Wytheville Community College educational experience.  Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs.

D. Woodrow Bird Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students from counties of Bland and Wythe. Preference is given to students from Bland County. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Dr. Judson Booker Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the Wytheville Community College educational experience.  First preference for scholarship awards will be to students who are residents of Wythe County or Bland County and who are enrolled in a health-related curricular program.  Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs.

Thomas A. "Tom" Bralley, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to deserving non-traditional Wytheville Community College students from the college's service region who are enrolled in Business Management and Administration or Marketing. Recipients must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular financial aid programs.

Chet A Brown Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students attending Wytheville Community College. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Thomas E. Butt Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled in the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Thomas E. Butt Nursing Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled in the Nursing program. Preference is given to non-traditional students. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Joe Bybee Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to deserving students attending WCC who are enrolled in non-credit courses.  Recipients must be residents of the college’s service region and should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal or state financial aid programs.  First preference for awards will be given to students who are unemployed or underemployed.

William P. and Margaret C. Carpenter Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students from Wythe County who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. Recipients must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal financial aid assistance.

Catron-Satterfield Scholarship Endowment

Available to full-time WCC students who have attained a 3.0-grade point average, who are residents of the college's service region *, and who are enrolled in an associate degree program. Preference is given to students with financial need but may be awarded to students who do not qualify for financial aid. Recipients are selected by the Financial Aid Coordinator.

Catron-Wood Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled in a transfer program at WCC. Recipients must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Preference will be given to graduates of Galax High School, Grayson County High School, or Patrick County High School.

Duncan Marshall Copeland Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students attending WCC. Two scholarships annually: one to a Grayson County High School graduate and one to a student from anywhere else in the college's service region. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Virginia and G. Claude Cox Scholarship Endowment

Available to students pursuing a career in the education profession; freshmen must have completed high school in an academic curriculum with "B" average or higher; sophomores must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher in a college transfer program. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Anna and Roddy Crabtree Scholarship

Available to residents of Bland or Smyth County.  Recipients must be enrolled in an approved program at WCC and should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Dr. Betty V. Craft Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year Medical Laboratory Technology students (one or more) who attend WCC, who show promise of contributing to the Medical Laboratory Technology field, who have a “C” cumulative grade point average or higher at the end of the freshman year.

Angela Denise Crockett Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to freshmen nursing students who are residents of Wythe County. The scholarship award is renewable to students having satisfactory academic progress for a maximum of two years until the completion of the degree program in Nursing. Preference will be given to students who are currently enrolled or who have successfully completed the Junior ROTC program at one of the Wythe County High Schools. Two (2) letters of recommendation required. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Valerie Jeanne Crockett Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund

Enrolled in a health-related program. The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient's grade point average meets the requirements for satisfactory academic progress. Recipients should have a financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Betty Brown Dunford Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to Nursing seniors in their last semester at WCC who have shown academic achievement. Preference given to LPN's from Wythe Co. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Dr. R. N. DuPuis/ N. W. Pendleton Scholarship Endowment

Available to students of promise attending WCC. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Renea Jonas Englar Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year Nursing program students attending WCC. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Lola Ewald Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to Nursing program students attending WCC who are natives of Wythe County.

Dr. and Mrs. Palmer Fant Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year students enrolled in the Radiologic Technology Program. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

Lewis and Marie Fender Scholarship

Available to students who are enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience and who plan to pursue a career in education/teaching.  Recipients must reside in the college’s service region and who have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal financial aid assistance.

First Bank of Virginia Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year Nursing program students of promise who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

Robert E. Fowlkes, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students of promise majoring in Machine Tool Operations or Machine Technology or a program related to the metal-working industry. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Thelma W. and Raymond K. Fulton Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students of promise from Wythe County. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

General Injectables and Vaccines, Inc. Scholarship Endowment in Memory of Arlie J. Sutphin

Available to children of GIV employees. Candidates may be identified by GIV. Scholarships renewable up to three (3) years providing the recipient has satisfactory academic progress and meets all other eligibility criteria. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

General Scholarship Endowment

Available to students selected by the Financial Aid Committee of the college. (Financial need not a requirement.)

George Wythe High School Class of 1974 Scholarship Fund

Established by members of the George Wythe High School Class of 1974 to provide awards to students who are graduates of George Wythe High School with a minimum 2.5-grade point average and who have demonstrated leadership in clubs and volunteer community service.  Recipients must have demonstrated financial need, although they may not necessarily qualify for federal or state financial aid programs.

Mae Lingerfelt Glass Cultural Endowment

Available to students of promise attending WCC. Recipients must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal financial aid assistance.

Larry E. Groseclose Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students enrolled in the Police Science Program, and who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. Recipients must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal financial aid assistance.

June Piper Hale & Virginia Clyde Reeves Hale Memorial Scholarship Endowment

An applicant who is a descendant of June Piper Hale or Virginia Clyde Reeves Hale, without regard to financial need. Second to applicants demonstrating financial need and living in the Providence Magisterial District of Grayson County, Virginia.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hale Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year WCC Nursing students from any area of Virginia who have earned a minimum 2.3-grade point average. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Rural Retreat Lions Club's William H. "Bill" Hall Memorial

Available to students who are graduates of Rural Retreat High School and have a minimum 2.0-grade point average.  First preference will be given to students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university and plan to pursue a career in journalism.  The scholarship will be renewable for subsequent semesters as long as the recipient maintains a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

William W. Halsey, III Scholarship Endowment 

Available to WCC students of promise who reside in Grayson County or the City of Galax. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Victor V. Hammond Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year Medical Laboratory Technology students who have a minimum "C" cumulative grade point average at the end of the freshman year. If there are no qualified candidates, preference will be given to students enrolled in other Allied Health programs who meet other qualifications. If there is not a qualified applicant in Allied Health programs, students enrolled in other programs may be considered. (Awarded by a committee composed of the WCC Medical Laboratory Technology instructors and one medical technologist from each hospital participating in the program. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Helen Calfee Hanks Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students from Carroll County, Grayson County, or the City of Galax who have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal or state financial aid programs. Recipients must also be willing to complete 20 hours of community service with an approved agency (agency list available upon request).

Dr. Rebecca Sharitz Hatfield Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Enrolled in the Science Program and live in the service region, maintained a 3.0 GPA and should have financial need but necessarily qualify for other financial aid.

Joseph 'Joe' Hillman Scholarship Endowment

Residents of the service region and enrolled in Occupational/Technical Programs, such as HVAC, Electrical, Machine Tech, etc. Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Delena Agatha Pafford Hoback Memorial Nursing Scholarship Endowment

Available to Nursing students of promise; recipients must plan to work in Wytheville following graduation from WCC. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Norene Holston Scholarship Endowment

Available to worthy students attending WCC. Such scholarships may be renewed each semester upon the student recipient's continued satisfactory academic progress.

Charles Wayne Hudson Scholarship Endowment

Available to students from the WCC service area*; preference will be given to those reared in the service region. The scholarship covers tuition only. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

William J. and Diane U. Hurst New Career Scholarship Endowment

Designed to encourage and assist non-traditional age Wytheville Community College students. Such students may not have had the opportunity to attend college directly after completing high school, may have worked in a career field but then recognized the need to pursue a new career path, or may now be in a position to advance in their career through furthering education. Recipients must be enrolled in an approved program--either a credit program or non-credit workforce training program. For students enrolled in two-year programs, preference may be given to second-year students. Recipients must show academic promise. Recipients should have a financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

William E. and June Henderson Hurst Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to a senior at George Wythe High School; candidates recommended by the George Wythe High School National Honor Society in conjunction with the Guidance Department. The recipient must complete one (1) full year of college at WCC or pay back the scholarship in full. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

YP and Trudy Hwu Scholarship Endowment

Will provide financial assistance to deserving recent graduates of Wythe County Public Schools or Wytheville Community College. ("Recent graduates" are defined as students who have not been out of high school for more than two years.) Recipients must be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university and pursuing a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) program. The recipient must also have maintained a minimum 3.0 grade point average in the prior school year. Scholarship funds will be transferred directly to the recipient's account at the accredited four-year college or university.

F. Powell Johnson Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students of promise. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Robert Eddystone Johnson and Virginia Williams Johnson Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to deserving students attending WCC. Recipients must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal or state financial aid programs. The scholarship is awarded alternately between a male and a female student from Wythe County, with first preference for recipients to be enrolled in the Nursing Program.

Robert Eley and Jane Johnson Scholarship Endowment

Available to Wytheville Community College students of promise. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

George Edward “Eddie” Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund

Available to WCC students from Wythe County who have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for federal or state financial aid programs.  First preference will be given to non-traditional students in occupational/technical programs.

Paul and Oleta Jones Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students who are residents of Carroll County.  First preference is given to students who attended Fancy Gap Elementary School.  Students should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular financial aid programs.

The Dr. George B. Kegley Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students of promise from Bland County who are enrolled full-time in science or a medical/allied health field. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Alice M. Kelley Memorial Scholarship Fund

Enrolled in the Nursing Program Recipients must demonstrate exemplary character, as evidenced through their current or past participation in a faith-based youth program or organization. [Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average.] Also, recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Louise Shupe Kincer Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to full-time Nursing students from Wythe County. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Gary Laing Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to non-traditional students, with first preference given to students enrolled in occupational-technical programs such as Information Systems Technology, Machine Technology, Machine Tool Operations, Engineering, Industrial Technician, Construction Technology, or similar types of programs that may be developed in the future. Recipients must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs.

Jennie Lawson Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students of promise. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Sieglinde R. Lawson Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience.  Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs.

Leggett of Wytheville, Virginia, Inc. Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled in a field of study generally related to business, in either an occupational/technical or transfer program. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Vern E. Lentz Scholarship Endowment

Available to Business Administration or Management students with preference given to those planning to complete a baccalaureate business degree and enrolled in a transfer program. Preference is given to residents of Wythe, Bland, or Grayson Counties. The scholarship may be renewed for second year if the recipient has earned a "C" average or better during the first year. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

J.G. and Vera Mae Long Scholarship

Available to WCC students who are former residents of Joy Ranch Home for Children in Hillsville, Virginia. 

David W. McElroy Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience.  First preference for scholarship awards will be to students who have demonstrated leadership abilities in church youth-related activities. Second preference for scholarship awards will be to students who are children of ABB (or successor companies to ABB) employees in Southwest Virginia, and who have demonstrated a strong work ethic. Selection of candidates should give priority to those who are not eligible for other financial aid or the Wythe-Bland Foundation Scholarship Program. Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs. The scholarship is renewable annually; A "B" average is required for the annual scholarship to be renewed.

McGrady-Liddle Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at Wytheville Community College who reside in the college's service region. Recipients must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular financial aid programs, have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, and have a documented disability. First priority will be given to students with physical disabilities. Scholarships may be used for tuition, textbooks, supplies, or other educational expenses.

Mae Lester Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year Nursing Program students. First priority is given to students employed at the Wythe County Community Hospital or Smyth County Community Hospital; second priority given to past employees of either hospital; third priority given to sophomore Nursing Program students who are residents of Wythe or Smyth counties. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

The Links, Inc. Scholarship Endowment

Available to full-time WCC students who are defined as hearing-impaired by the Office of Student Support Services. Students must be in good standing and show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Longwood Elastomers Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students. Preference will be given to children of former Aeroquip employees and successor companies. (If more than one qualified applicant, preference will be given to greater financial need.)

Babe and Sidney Louis Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to Nursing Program students of promise. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Machine Technology and Machine Tool Operations Endowment

Available to freshmen students enrolled in either Machine Tool Operations or Machine Technology programs who are residents of the college service region*, maintained a "C" average or higher in high school, and have demonstrated outstanding potential for success in either program. (Financial aid eligibility not required.) NOTE: This is award is made at a service region* high school.

Ida McDowell Nursing Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year Nursing students. Preference is given to residents of Wythe or Bland Counties who would be likely to stay and apply working skills in the college service region*. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Byrd Pendleton McGavock Scholarship Endowment

Available to deserving students attending WCC. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Frank McGavock Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students attending WCC. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Mental Health Scholarship Endowment

Available to sophomore students enrolled in mental health or a closely related field. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials Inc. Scholarship Endowment

Preference given to family members and in the event of multiple candidates, the determining factor will be based on the greatest financial need. Formerly the Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products Scholarship Endowment.

Dr. John V. Neff Scholarship Endowment

Available to sophomore students from the WCC service region who are majoring in a humanities curriculum. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Neighborhood Assistance Act Scholarship Endowment

Available to economically disadvantaged students who qualify according to the rules of the Neighborhood Assistance Program who are enrolled in degree programs, and who are residents of the WCC service region. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Donald G. Papiernik Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience and who are enrolled in the Accounting (first preference), Business Administration (second preference), or Management (third preference) associate degree programs. First preference is given to residents of Smyth County. (Financial need is not a requirement.)

Sidney Peery/Acme Markets/A-Mart Stores Scholarship Endowment

Available to students of promise from the college's service region. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Edmund Pendleton, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students attending WCC. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Richard M. Perkins Accounting Scholarship Endowment

Available to sophomore Accounting students who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience and who are residents of the WCC service region. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Physical Therapist Assistant Scholarship Endowment

Available to second-year students in the Physical Therapist Assistant program with a minimum 3.0-grade point average who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Hattie Huddle Poe Memorial Endowment

Available to WCC students who have financial need, show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience, and who do not qualify for established financial aid. Recipients are selected by the Financial Aid Coordinator.

Walter A. Porter, M. D., Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students who are residents of Carroll County and enrolled full-time in a medical/allied health program or the science curriculum in preparation for medical school. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Phillip Price Dental Hygiene Scholarship Endowment

Available to sophomore Dental Hygiene students. Preference is given to non- traditional, returning students. Financial need is not necessary for the selection of this scholarship but will be taken into consideration during the review process.

Rockie Alan Repass Memorial Scholarship

Available to WCC transfer students who reside in the college's service region * and who are enrolled in Education, General Studies, or Liberal Arts and plan to teach English. Preference will be given to students from Bland County. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Carl J. Richardson Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Will provide financial assistance to deserving Wytheville Community College students who are residents of Grayson County, Virginia. Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Matthew Todd Ridgeway Memorial Scholarship

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the Wytheville Community College educational experience.  Recipients will be non-traditional students who have graduated from high school and chosen to attend college later in life (non-traditional).  Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs.

Charles and Anna Ray Roberts Scholarship Endowment

Residents of Wythe County with 3.0 GPA, first preference to graduates of Rural Retreat High School. First preference to business-related program, but if WCC implements an agriculture-related program in the future, this would be first preference. Should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Carolyn F. Sanders Scholarship Endowment

Available to students from Wythe County who are enrolled in any Allied Health program and show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Leona Allison Sharitz Scholarship

Available to a deserving WCC student who is enrolled in the Education Program or is enrolled in either SCM 100: Introduction to American Sign Language or SCM 110: Intermediate Sign Language. Applicants are not required to be enrolled, full-time students. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Dr. Carolyn A. Sherrill Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students of promise enrolled in the Nursing Program and who are from Smyth County. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Bobby Smith Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Will provide financial assistance to deserving Wytheville Community College students who plan to pursue a career in secondary education. Recipients must be enrolled in the Education or Science Program and must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Robert A. and Ruth A. Smith Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience.  Recipients must be enrolled in a math, science, or pre-engineering curriculum at WCC.

Dr. William F. Snyder Scholarship Endowment

Available to students attending WCC who are in good standing and who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Spence-McIntire Scholarship Endowment

Available to graduates of Rural Retreat High School who attend WCC. Students must demonstrate financial need, show academic promise, and be studying for a career in social work or mental health (or a closely related field) or corrections.

John R. Stafford, Jr. and Shirley L. Stafford Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience.  Recipients must be graduates of Bland High School.  Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs.

Stellar One Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students from Wythe Co., Bland Co., Grayson Co., Carroll Co., and the New River Valley that consists of Floyd Co., Pulaski Co., Giles Co., the City of Radford, Christiansburg, and Montgomery Co., who are economically disadvantaged as defined by U. S. Department of Health and Human Services guidelines. Recipients must be full-time students enrolled in a degree or certificate program and must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 Applicants must furnish a fully completed application and two letters of recommendation from non-family members. It is preferred that one letter is from an educator or a former employer. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Ernest Warren Stone Memorial Scholarship

Available to residents of Grayson County who are enrolled in a business-related curriculum (i.e., Business Administration, Marketing, or Accounting) who plan to transfer to a four-year university.  Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs.

Michael Dwaine Stoots Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience.  Recipients must be enrolled in Accounting or a Business curriculum. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Frank P. Strough Memorial Scholarship

Available to graduates of Bland High School who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. Candidates are recommended by the Bland High School Beta Club in conjunction with the principal. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Freddie Taylor, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students of promise enrolled in the Electronics program. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Mabel Butler Taylor Scholarship Endowment

Tuition scholarship is available to second-year Nursing Program students with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 at the end of the freshman year. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Wilmer T. Trevillian Memorial Scholarship

Available to a full-time Wythe County student who is a rising sophomore and has a minimum 3.3-grade point average. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Thomas A. and Mae P. Turley Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience.  Recipients must have demonstrated financial need based on the “Free Application for Federal Student Aid” (FAFSA).

K. Stafford and Jane S. Umberger Scholarship Endowment

Available to students with a potential for success as evidenced by high school grades, achievement placement data, and other indicators submitted by the applicant; awards may be presented to first- or second-year WCC students or to WCC graduates who transfer to accredited institutions of higher education and are enrolled for their first year of study. (Renewable for up to three years provided recipient is making satisfactory progress.) (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Nancy Hurt Umberger Memorial Scholarship Fund

Will provide financial assistance to deserving Wytheville Community College students who plan to pursue a career in secondary education teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) subjects. The scholarship funds will be sent directly to the four-year college or university to which the recipient plans to transfer and be used for tuition only. Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Owen and Jean Umberger Golden Anniversary Scholarship Endowment

Available to a graduating senior of Bland High School who will be attending WCC full-time; candidates recommended by Bland High School Beta Club in conjunction with the Guidance Department. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Virginia Operations of Camcar/Textron Scholarship Endowment

Available to students attending WCC who are enrolled in a curriculum which is adaptable to a manufacturing environment, including secretarial/data processing, accounting, drafting, management, engineering, electronics, machine technology, etc. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Robert G. and Evelyn M. Veselik Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience and who are enrolled in the Management, Education, Computer and Electronics Technology, Computer Engineering Technology Specialization, Networking Engineering Technology Specialization, Networking Systems Technology Specialization, and Information Systems Technology associate degree curricula (or similar computer/information systems programs which may be developed). First preference is given to students enrolled in the Management and Education curricula. First preference is given to residents of Smyth County. (Financial need is not a requirement.)

WCC Forging Futures Scholarship

Available to WCC students who grow tobacco or are from tobacco-growing families or for students with financial need in the college’s service region. For more information, please go to the Forging Futures Scholarship Program.

WCC Support Staff Assembly Scholarship Endowment

Available to full or part-time support staff employees who have been employed for at least one continuous year, are enrolled in an accredited degree program or taking courses directly related to their career goals and who have and IDP on file, or who show promise of benefiting from the higher education experience. Applicant should be actively involved in the WCC campus community and should have or obtain at least a 3.0-grade point average. The scholarship will be awarded in the fall semester; however, if there is no scholarship awarded in the fall, the award will be available for the spring semester. The award is for tuition and books not to exceed $300 and will be paid to the recipient. The recipient is expected to pay back the money if they drop the class. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

WCC Support Staff Scholarship Endowment

Available to children (natural or adopted children, step-children, or fully dependent wards) of WCC support staff who have been employed for one continuous year at WCC at the time of application. Children of parents no longer employed at WCC but who have had five years' service will also be eligible to apply. Students must be in good standing in their senior year in high school, at WCC, or another college or university, and attend WCC as full-time students in regular programs. Scholarships will be available for two years only to any one person. Must reestablish eligibility annually. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

H. H. Webb and Nora Midkiff Webb Scholarship

Available to full-time students who are residents of Carroll or Patrick Counties, Virginia, or Surry County, North Carolina, who demonstrate financial need and show evidence of promise. First-year students who have come directly from high school must have earned a "C" average or higher in high school. Other students must have earned a "C" or higher cumulative grade-point average in college courses. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Andrew White Memorial Scholarship Fund

Available to students from Wythe County who are enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Blair L. Whitt Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to students enrolled at WCC who show promise of benefiting from the WCCeducational experience.  First preference for scholarship awards will be to students who are residents of Bland County, Tazewell County, or Wythe County.  Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular federal or state financial aid programs.

Ralph C. Whitt Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students of promise who are graduates from any Wythe County High School. Preference is given to students enrolled in Early Childhood Development. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

H. S. and Patsy B. Williams Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students from Smyth County. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Dr. John C. Willis Chiropractic Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students who maintain a grade point average of 2.5 and plan to become a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic in the Commonwealth of Virginia (should demonstrate a need for financial assistance).

Lt. William Luckett Woodford, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Available to deserving students enrolled at WCC who are from the college's service region.

Stella Worrell Nursing Scholarship

Available to first-year WCC students enrolled full-time in the Nursing program, have financial need, reside in Carroll County, and show promise of benefiting from their educational experience.

Stella Worrell Police Science Scholarship

Available to students from the WCC service region* who are enrolled full-time in the WCC Police Science program.  First preference will be given to students planning to seek employment as game wardens or conservation officers.  Students should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs. 

Wytheville Training School Scholarship Fund

Available to students who could enroll at WCC and who show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience.  First preference will be given to students who are descendants or relatives of attendees or alumni of the Wytheville Training School, a school located in Wythe County.

Wythe County Community Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Endowment

Available to any hospital employee who has been on the staff for at least one full year. Consideration shall also be given to Junior Volunteers who have shown outstanding performance. While the program of study for a candidate is not restricted, the individual shall enter a program at WCC that is considered to be mutually beneficial to the hospital as well as to the individual.

Wythe County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Endowment

Available to WCC students of promise who are residents of Wythe County and are enrolled in a program leading to elementary or secondary school teaching. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Wythe County VFW Post 2719 Scholarship Fund

Recipients must be descendants of Veterans who have served in a branch of the United States military. Must be residents of Wythe County. Recipients should have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for other financial aid programs.

Wythe Manufacturing Council Scholarship Program

Available to full-time students who received a high school diploma, a GED, or a home school diploma after 2002 and who have legally resided in Wythe County for at least one year prior to earning their diploma. Such persons are eligible to apply up to their 24th birthday. Recipients must enroll and continue to be enrolled in a program of study approved for the Wythe Manufacturing Council Scholarship Program. The scholarship provides gap funding between the difference in the cost of one year's tuition and other scholarships and grants received.

Wytheville Community College Alumni Scholarship

Available to WCC students of promise who are children or grandchildren of WCC Alumni. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Wytheville Community College Faculty Scholarship Endowment

Available to promising students with preference given to currently enrolled students with high academic achievement. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Wytheville Community College International Association of Administrative Professionals Student Chapter Scholarship Endowment

Available to freshman students from the college service region who ranked in the top 20 percent of their high school graduating class and who are enrolled in the Administrative Support Technology program. (Financial aid eligibility not required.)

Wytheville Community College Student Nurses' Scholarship Endowment

Available to sophomore Nursing Program students of promise with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. Additional selection criteria include participation in community and/or college activities and recommendation by Nursing Faculty. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Wytheville Community College Student to Student Scholarship

Available to WCC students who excel academically and who have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular financial aid programs.

Wytheville Community College Twin County Endowment

Available to WCC students who reside in the Twin County area. Students must have financial need but may not necessarily qualify for regular financial aid programs.

Wytheville Ladies Ruritan Club Scholarship Fund

Available to full-time WCC students from Wythe County who are enrolled in a degree or certificate program. Recipients must have financial need and show promise of benefiting from the WCC educational experience. Recipients are notified of the scholarship award at the beginning of Fall Semester but will not receive the amount of the scholarship until they provide official documentation of a minimum 3.0-grade point average at the end of Fall Semester. Preference is given to children, spouses, or relatives of Wytheville Ladies Ruritan Club members and then to non-traditional students. (Financial aid eligibility required.)

Wytheville Lions Club Scholarship Endowment

Available to students attending WCC. Scholarship recipients must be residents of Wythe County, must show academic promise, and must have financial need.
